For the Younger Crowd
Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss
Okay, really, any Dr. Seuss book.
Double Trouble in Walla Walla by Andrew Clements
Read Alouds Good for Every Age
The Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis (We do not read The Last Battle. It's a bit too much scary for our younger ones)
The Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder
The Terrestria Chronicles by Ed Dunlop
The Kingdom series by Chuck Black
Teddy's Button by Amy LaFeuvre
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien (although there are so many characters who are constantly together through the story, it's hard for younger ones to follow)
Sir Malcolm and the Missing Prince by Sidney Baldwin
The White Knights by W.E. Cule
The Basket of Flowers by Christopher von Schmid
The Captive by Christopher von Schmid
Cheaper by the Dozen by Frank Gilbreth and Ernestine Gilbreth (there were a few words in it that I edited out while reading but all in all a fun book about a large family)

Christmas and Easter Books
We discovered Arnold Ytreeide and his advent books four years ago. We've gone through one a year and last year we started back over in the stories. They are suspenseful and fun yet purposeful in drawing our hearts back to the Lord. We enjoyed Amon's Adventure this year during the time leading up to Easter.
Jotham's Journey
Bartholomew's Passage
Tabitha's Travels
Amon's Adventure
